
NOWSHERA: At least three people were dead and 10 sustained injuries in a powerful explosion in Akora Khattak’s Darul Uloom Haqqania, Nowshera, Khyber Pakhutunkhwa, ARY News reported on Friday, citing sources.
According to the capital police officer (CPO), the blast rocked the Darul Uloom Haqqania after Friday prayers.
Talking to ARY News, Rescue 1122, spokesperson Muhammad Asim confirmed injuries to at least 20 persons in the explosion.
He said the teams are continuing rescue operation at the spot after the incident was reported.
Meanwhile, emergency has been enforced at Lady Reading Hospital.
The DPO confirmed death of three people and injuries to 10 others in the blast. Meanwhile, IG KP confirmed JUI-Samiul Haq group chief Hamidul Haq was targeted in the attack, who is critically injured.
The nature of the blast could not be ascertained. The area has been cordoned-off by the rescue teams.

Earlier this month, a powerful explosion near a security convoy in Bannu, injured two security personnel.
According to police, the blast took place near the Domail police station, close to the Mangal Mela area.
Unidentified militants had planted explosives along the roadside, which detonated near the convoy. Following the incident, security forces and police launched a search operation in the area to apprehend those militants.
